Nike padel rackets: three models spotted
Nike has not yet officially confirmed its entry into the padel market, but the signs keep mounting. According to industry reports, the U.S. brand is preparing a market launch and already appears to have concrete product lines in mind. Particular attention is currently focused on reports that three first racket models were shown at a private event. For the growing padel sector, that would be a signal with significant weight, because Nike regularly sets standards for visibility, design and premium positioning in other sports.
According to the specialist outlet El4Set, the prototypes were presented at a closed event hosted by Drake and his brand NOCTA. World-class players Juan Lebrón and Agustín Tapia were reportedly among the guests. That constellation alone underlines that Nike does not see padel as a niche experiment, but is already seeking contact with the top of the sport. In parallel, an Instagram story by NBA player Devin Booker added more attention: he can be seen playing with a Nike racket. Images like that reinforce the impression that the project is already well advanced.
Three premium models in focus
According to El4Set, Nike presented three different models aimed at the premium segment. The names and technical details point to clearly separated playing profiles and recall the segmentation established padel brands have used for years.
- Nike Command: double outer drilling, reportedly 16K carbon, asymmetrical core and sandblasted finish
- Nike Attack: more aggressive design, geared toward offensive play
- Nike Balance: more classic construction with 12K carbon, rough surface and a balance between control and power
Command and Balance in particular already look like carefully considered concepts for different player types. Command, with its asymmetrical core and 16K carbon, aims at high stability and precision. Attack emphasizes pressure and pace, while Balance targets the all-rounder who wants to combine control and punch. Whether the names and specifications remain final is still open. For the market, direction and ambition matter most: Nike does not appear to be starting with an entry-level model, but directly in the premium range.
Market entry for 2027 under discussion
Several industry sources and again El4Set name 2027 as a possible date for the official market launch. That would give Nike time to align materials, design, distribution and athlete partnerships carefully. At the same time, the brand would enter a phase in which padel continues to grow internationally and competition for visibility among clubs, retailers and pro tours intensifies. Nike could benefit from its global infrastructure, but would also need to meet the sport’s specifics in geometry, ball feel and spin surfaces.
A quick rise among the major names in the industry would be ambitious, but not unrealistic. Nike has shown in other disciplines how strongly brand, athletes and product communication can interact. In padel, a comparable strategy is conceivable: a strong visual identity, selective premium models and a close link to high-profile players. Exactly here, the rumors around Agustín Tapia gain extra weight.
Tapia and possible partnership scenarios
For months, the Argentine’s name has appeared in speculation around Nike. Tapia is currently under contract with NOX until the end of 2028. Still, talks between Nike and the Spanish brand are said to have taken place to explore a partnership model. One discussed option: Tapia wears Nike apparel while continuing to play with a NOX racket. Whether that becomes a concrete agreement remains unclear. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Tapia described Nike’s interest as something special and said it would be a dream for him. At the same time, he stressed that there is still no binding deal.
Such remarks show how strong the symbolic power of a Nike commitment in padel would be. For players, the brand means global reach; for Nike, a top athlete would offer fast access to credibility in the sport. At the same time, NOX remains an established equipment maker with its own position in the racket segment.
What the signals mean for the market
The spotted rackets, the presence of Lebrón and Tapia at the NOCTA event and the Booker story together form a coherent picture: Nike is preparing its entry into padel. Official confirmation, prices, sales launch and final specs are still missing. Even so, the available material is enough to read the move as a serious strategic process rather than a mere marketing stunt.
For retailers, clubs and ambitious players, that mainly means one thing: the premium market for padel equipment remains in motion. New brands raise competitive pressure on design, materials and communication. Established manufacturers will need to sharpen their positioning, while consumers could get even more choice in the upper segment. Until 2027 there is still time, but Command, Attack and Balance already outline three distinct playing ideas.
Whether and when Nike officially presents the models will be watched closely by the industry. What is already clear: the padel market is increasingly attracting major sports corporations. The latest clues around Nike are among the clearest examples of that in the current season.
